On April 19, the Santa Victoria Pavilion of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona was the setting for the 1st International Awareness Day on Human Rights and the Impact of Environmental Barriers on People with Disabilities. This event, promoted by the AGER Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC) and the School of Language Pathology (EPL), of the Hospital de Sant Pau, and teaching unit of the UAB, It had the participation of prominent experts, as well as representatives of official organizations, entities and affected people, and the Parliament of Catalonia.
During the day, various activities were carried out, including presentations, round tables and debates, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of guaranteeing the human rights of people with disabilities and analyzing the impact of environmental barriers on their daily lives. Relevant topics were addressed such as accessibility, social inclusion, equal opportunities and the elimination of obstacles that limit the full participation of people with disabilities in society.

On January 17, the president of the Ager Foundation, Griselda Lozano, and Dr. Josep Maria Vendrell presented the latest projects of the Foundation in the Parliament of Catalonia. The projects focus on cognitive diseases and environmental barriers suffered by people with disabilities. Ms. Lozano explained the social context and political impact of the Ager Foundation projects that have made legislative changes possible at the national level. Dr. Vendrell, neurologist and founder of the Language Pathology School of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, explained with scientific evidence the application of new technologies to improve cognitive problems. He also explained how these technologies can be introduced in the educational program aimed at children with cognitive disorders or memory, attention and language difficulties, and in the health system aimed at adults.
The appearance and proposals were well received and the parliamentary groups took questions, concluding the importance of the innovation of the projects presented, at the same time they congratulated the Ager Foundation and its entire team for the important and necessary work they perform, expressing the interest and commitment of the Parliament of Catalonia, in legislating measures to make it possible for this innovation to reach society and especially for the benefit of the most vulnerable people.
